Sweet Deeds Foundation promotes holistic support for individuals and families overlooked by society using the tools of mental health and collaborative partnerships.

Founded by Ly & Dana Tran, Sweet Deeds is the philanthropic nonprofit partner of Watershed Initiative. It is named in honor of their late son, Aaron Josiah Tran, who was affectionately nicknamed “Deeds” by his father (“DiDi” means “little brother'' in Mandarin Chinese).

Our vision is to see communities restored through quality mental health - one person, one family, one deed at a time.

Our Approach

  • Reduce the Financial Barrier to Mental Health Services. A typical therapy session costs $100-$150, turning mental health into a luxury inaccessible for many people. Sweet Deeds offers generous scholarships so that those who need mental health can afford it.

  • Partner with community nonprofits. Our expertise is mental health. But we also understand that mental health is directly tied to many factors including job stability, housing, and food. So we support organizations passionate about effecting change through meeting physical and logistical needs.

  • Provide Preventative Mental Health Education. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”  Working with parents, teachers, school administrations, church and community leaders allows us to address issues through education and prevention, before issues become potentially far more damaging.

Impact and Partners

By the Numbers

Since 2017, the Watershed Group has offered more than 14,590 sessions of therapy offered at reduced or free rates

Totaling over $510,000 worth of therapy

Bringing healing to many individuals, children, marriages, and families

Now, in 2023, as we've officially launched Sweet Deeds, we are more passionate than ever about expanding the assistance we can provide to more partners in need and actively inviting like-minded individuals and churches to support our work in the mental health space.

We’re proud to partner with these community organizations and churches.

  • The Local Good Center’s mission is to create lasting good within our local community by providing opportunities for personal and community-wide transformation. In the past year it focused on four key pillars: Advocacy, Wellness, Education, and Job Readiness.

  • We provide counseling services free of charge or generously reduced to allow us to come alongside both refugee populations and forefront staff members to address the mental health needs associated with primary and secondary trauma.

  • Chase Oaks Church seeks to inspire people to follow Jesus and together change our world for good. They are one church with locations throughout Dallas. Ly Tran served on staff for years as pastor of care at Chase Oaks, which continues to serve as a vital partner.

  • We provide discounted rates for students and InterVarsity staff to support the mental health needs of campuses throughout the Gulf Coast area.
