Emotionally Healthy Leaders
Description
What if you could be a part of an emotionally healthy team, where needs are expressed honestly, feelings shared safely, and trust is the foundation? That kind of leadership team would be both powerful and life-giving.
This group aims to introduce Christian leaders into the experience of greater emotional health as a team. Utilizing Peter Scazzero’s, The Emotionally Healthy Leader, as a springboard for conversation, participants will not only learn important concepts related to cultivating a healthier, more resilient emotional life, but actively engage in real-time sharing and practice around these topics. You and your team will leave with greater awareness, strength, and resilience.
Topics include:
Emotional Awareness & Resilience
Understanding Co-regulation and Relational Needs
Identifying and Asking for what I need
Practicing Grace and Truth in community
Developing empathy and attuned listening skills
Experiencing the benefits of being known and accepted

Paul McMullen, LPC-Associate
Paul brings a unique blend of pastoral experience and therapeutic insight to his work with ministry leaders. With a Master of Divinity from Harding School of Theology and years spent pastoring in both the U.S. and Canada, Paul understands the demands and pressures of church leadership. His journey into therapy grew from his own need for deeper healing, leading him to specialize in emotionally-focused, psychodynamic group work.
As the founder of WellSpring Process Groups and a certified coach, Paul creates spaces where leaders can slow down, explore their inner world, and grow in emotional awareness—together. He’s passionate about helping pastors move beyond isolation into authentic connection, believing that the healing we long for often begins in relationships.
Paul and his wife Julie have been married for 17 years and share life with their two energetic boys. He also co-hosts the Created for Connection podcast, exploring healing and relationships from a Christian perspective.

A Testimonial
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this group, but it turned out to be exactly what I needed and what our team needed. The opportunity to be intentional about our emotional health was invaluable, and has had ripple effects throughout our whole staff. My relationship with myself, my team, and others deepened in ways that I didn’t even know I needed. I’m so grateful for all of the work Watershed does to support those who work in the challenging and rewarding field of vocational ministry! - Shannon Pugh, Pastor at Irving Bible Church
