Getting to know Alicia
Dr. Fahr has been in clinical practice for 20 years and has trained Masters and Doctoral-level counseling students as a faculty member in higher education for 22 years. She brings a wealth of professional experience in both individual and couple’s counseling. Dr. Fahr loves to help people live their best lives and grow in their unique and spiritual presence in the world.
Dr. Fahr specializes in trauma-informed therapies, including CBT, ACT, DBT, Art Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Existentialism, and Transpersonal Psychology. She enjoys working with those who are struggling with relationship issues, grief and loss, motivation, adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, stress, family issues, chronic illness and chronic pain, sexual abuse, medical trauma, and PTSD.
She has also developed a clinical specialty in Gerontology and loves to work with older adults and their families on issues such as, disability, cognitive decline, health concerns, independent living, Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias, grief and loss, and end-of-life issues.
Dr. Fahr is a lifelong learner. She is currently working on becoming a Certified Death Doula to help individuals and families cope with death and dying and obtaining an EMDR certification to help individuals overcome and heal from trauma. She’s also pursuing a Doctorate of Divinity.
Fun Fact
Dr. Fahr owns 3 horses, 2 donkeys, and a Basset Hound. She shares her love of animals with her daughter and the two worked together to tame a Wild Mustang, named Simmer, who looks like a unicorn (if you dare to believe in a little magic).
