Getting to know Ly

Over the past 20 years, Ly has accumulated a wide range of experiences that has led him now to focus his work on supporting other high level servant-leaders that are doing good work to impact the lives of others in a positive way. Ly’s unique blend of experiences that incorporate ministry, consulting, business and mental health allows him to offer a perspective few others can offer. And while Ly still offers professional counseling to individuals and couples, he has carved out most of his time these days to work with Church and Kingdom-Minded business leaders since they touch and impact the lives of so many others under their care and leadership.

Who Ly Works With

Ly works primarily with Lead and Executive Pastors because of the stress, isolation and loneliness that comes with being a leader. There aren’t many places where leaders can be honest and authentic with their struggles since they’re responsible for others. For Ly, providing safe spaces where leaders can work through their issues and needs is a critical step toward ensuring they’re able to lead well and to continue doing meaningful and impactful work. The reason Ly works with this population is because of the strategic impact. For Ly, investing into the mental health and well-being of these types of leaders is a strategic and exponential investment in the communities they lead and serve.

The Kind of Support Ly Provides

Ly is available to work with Pastors on any of the following three levels:

  1. Mental Health Consultations on church related situations.  Examples of a consult would include things such as handling staff conflicts, addressing difficult marital or home life circumstances for staff, dealing with situations that might involve mental illness like bipolar or personality disorders.  (Typically Meeting Every 4-6 Weeks)

  2. Personal Mental Health Coaching. This would involve supporting the pastor’s own mental health journey by offering ways to handle the stress and strain of the job in a healthier way.  This would be an ideal additional layer of support for those who either are not in need of a counselor or those who already have their own counselor that they see regularly. (Typically Meeting Every 4-6 Weeks)

  3. Professional Counseling. This option is ideal for Pastors who don’t have a current therapist or are in search of one that may be a better fit for them. (Typically Meeting Every 1-2 Weeks)

The Financial & Time Cost

Ly’s standard rate for professional counseling is $200 a session.  However, to serve lead and executive pastors, Ly offers a substantially reduced rate of $120 a session in order to make getting help and support that much easier (up to 8 sessions). In certain circumstance, insurance may also be utilized bringing the cost down even further. Additionally, Ly provides Mental Health Consultations and Personal Coaching once every 4-6 weeks keeping the time commitments sustainable and not so overly burdensome. That said, if professional counseling is needed, a higher frequency of meetings is possible as well.
