Getting to know Rebekah

Rebekah “Bex” Chatman is passionate about supporting teens and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and relational challenges. She also helps individuals navigate, process, and work towards healing from trauma from abuse and neglect. Jesus is an important part of her life and believes that spiritual and emotional healing comes from hard work and processing and turning to God through hard times. She strives to help individuals and couples work through conflict in relationships and seeks to help couples build conflict resolution skills and individuals grow interpersonally through how they view themselves and interact with others through a Christian lens.

Bex received her Masters in Clinical Mental Health at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas in 2019 and has her LPC in Texas after relocating to Austin, Texas in the summer of 2019. She lives just north of Austin with her husband Greg and her two dogs Roxy and Heidi. When she isn’t hiking the nearby trails, she enjoys practicing karate, running, reading, hanging out with her family and friends, and doing bible study with her community group at her local church.

Counseling was not always part of her story. She started out as a premed major but quickly switched to education with a desire to do missions overseas. After graduating from Ouachita Baptist University in 2015, she lived in East Asia for a year but quickly felt that the Lord called her to counseling while working at an international school as a missionary. Many students struggled with their mental health at the high school she taught at and soon she felt the desire to pursue counseling to love people well. Her therapeutic style is eclectic with a focus on CBT, trauma-based, narrative therapy, solution-focused, and existential modalities. She has a strong passion for supporting those who have experienced trauma and grief, particularly those who are struggling with or healing from narcissistic abuse. She believes that therapy takes time but is worth it. Healing is a hard path to take and with support, encouragement through processing, the right tools, and adapting to each person’s needs, healing is possible. Bex desires to help each person heal while learning more about how Christ has perfectly knit them together and know His love for them through the counseling process.

Bex Chatman works primarily in the Austin area for in-person appointments but is available for teletherapy appointments for any Texas resident.
