Getting to know Karen
Karen is a dedicated mental health professional who has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, life transitions, PTSD, and grief. She believes everyone holds their own answers, and together they will explore these in a compassionate, safe, and non-judgmental environment. Faith plays a significant role in her therapeutic approach, and while she humbly regards herself as an unlikely ambassador for Christ, she has dedicated over a decade to reading the Bible in a year. Karen welcomes open conversations about faith and its impact on mental health.
Style & Approach
Karen’s collaborative approach focuses on helping clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, challenge their validity, and develop healthy coping skills alongside self-compassion. At the core of Karen’s practice is the belief that individuals are more than their circumstances. She emphasizes the importance of connecting with one’s true self. Utilizing a positive, holistic, and trauma-informed framework, Karen integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and techniques from Motivational Interviewing, drawing from her experience with 12-step and SMART recovery programs. During the first session, Karen prioritizes building rapport and understanding each client’s unique story and goals for counseling.
